Fishing "Disappointment" area in 40 mph winds....

What a tough tournament for me!  I could not get anything going.  I caught a few fish on everything, couldn't establish a pattern.  Did not get a big bite over 2.5 lbs.  Going into the last day, I was one pound out of the money.  We had heavy winds, 40 mph, I thought I was on Lake Mead!  I went to the area that I was catching fish, about a 25 mile run, hoping the shoreline that I was fishing would be fish-able.  It was all windblown out and muddy, couldn't hold the boat. So I fished leeward shores, and they were still windy but fish-able.  Still the wind made it very difficult to fish.  Bounced around various places 'til noon, without a bite, then traveled to Disappointment area.  There I caught a small limit weighing 7 lbs.  It was the wrong tide in that area, so consequently I just caught small fish.  BIG MISTAKE!  I should have went to the Disappointment area and stayed all day.  I think there I could have caught enough weight to get a paycheck.  I wasted 1/2 day chasing bad water...another learning lesson, I should know better.

I fished disapointment on saturday for the college tournament and caught a solid 3lber. It was the only fish we caught, we should have stayed there too. Saturday the wind in that area was less intense than most other areas. We saw a bedfish picked up in that area while there too! It was a tough time to be on the Delta.

"Disappointment" is my fishing buddy far too often. But in 40mph winds I am just happy to get the boat back to the dock at the end of the day.

You will dig deep and pull out a big bag next time. Go get 'em.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, it was definitely a "disappointment" bite for me.
